It's been a while since our last newsletter! We've been heads-down building, refining, and pushing Tabby closer to our long-anticipated 1.0 release. It's a major milestone we're incredibly excited about, and we can't wait to share more soon!

Product Highlights 💡

Here are a few key updates from our recent releases:

🖥️ Shell Command Execution in Chat Panel Run shell commands directly in the Chat Panel to speed up your workflow!

🧠 Thinking Process in Answer Engine Tabby now shows its reasoning step-by-step in the Answer Engine, giving users better transparency and trust in the responses.

💬 User Chat History Conversations with Tabby are now saved, so you can revisit past chats anytime — a big boost for long-term productivity.

🕵️♂️ GitHub Commit History Indexed Tabby’s Code Browser now indexes GitHub commit history, making it easier to trace the evolution of your codebase.

🛡️ LDAP Integration Enterprise users can now authenticate via LDAP — a key step toward broader enterprise readiness.

🔄 Switch Between Backend Chat Models Users can now toggle between different backend chat models in the Answer Engine, offering more flexibility and customization.

In the first week of July, we also had an amazing team gathering trip to Sapporo! As a global remote team, we appreciate the opportunity to bring the team together, celebrate our achievements, and align on the road ahead. The week was filled with productive discussions🗣️, insightful brainstorming sessions💡, delicious food🍣🍜, and of course, breathtaking flower tours🌸🌼 in the beautiful Hokkaido summer☀️.

During our trip to Japan, we were also delighted to visit NEC, the leading multinational IT and electronics corporation in Japan, and had a productive discussion about AI coding. It's inspiring to see more enterprises embracing innovative developer tools with a strong focus on security.💪🏻

Tabby has come a long way in the past months! The latest v0.6.0 release marks the beginning of Tabby's Chat Playground and a suite of enterprise-friendly features. Here are more:

Tabby now gains a deeper understanding of your private repository! With a simple config setup, Tabby will cleverly analyze variables, classes, methods, and function signatures (supporting 8+ programming languages and continually expanding!) within your repo to offer project-native code suggestions. ☁️ Tabby on Modal GPU

No worries if you lack local GPUs for larger models. Tabby has supported smooth integration with Modal's cloud serverless cloud GPU and you can enjoy a more cost-effective pay-as-you-go plan!

💬 Chat Playground

Chat Playground has been the secret gem among many power users for a while, quietly existing under the radar. Now it's finally coming to a fresh makeover with conversation history support. So, what's the next burning coding question you're itching to ask Tabby?

🐱 Enterprise Features (Preview)

We're advancing Tabby with a suite of features designed for enterprise scenarios. Key among these is the introduction of built-in distributed orchestration. More functionalities, such as User management / SSO / Secret Masking / DORA metrics are being actively developed!

We are thrilled to share the news that TabbyML has raised $3M in seed funding from leading VC and angle investors specializing in open source software. The fresh funds will empower us to further refine Tabby's product experience, expand our core team (check out our hiring page to apply!), and pioneer new advancements at the intersection of LLM and developer experiences.

In addition, let's also celebrate our latest product and team updates together!

✅ Tabby is the easiest solution to create an AI coding environment utilizing open source coding models. We've launched our coding assistant IDE extensions in VSCode, VIM, and JetBrains, serving over thousands of developers daily to supercharge their dev experience.
